Stylish & safe – wire ropes for many applications

  • Wire ropes as railing infill – Elegant and durable alternative to classic balusters.
  • Stainless steel cables on wooden beam constructions – Ideal for barriers, for example on terraces or in gardens.
  • Stainless steel tension cables – Perfect for modern architecture, our stainless steel cables offer stability and clear lines.
  • Safety barriers with stainless steel cables – Safety for stairs, balconies or galleries with a filigree look.
  • Design elements for indoor and outdoor areas – wire ropes as a stylish addition to interior design or landscaping.

Railing cables with plastic coating

We can also manufacture our stainless steel cables for railings with a plastic coating. You can choose from all RAL colours and a transparent coating. This coating offers additional protection for the wire rope as well as a visually appealing appearance. The plastic sheath itself can be additionally protected from sunlight with UV stabiliser.

The sheathing is usually 1-2 mm thick, but can also be customised. We then fit the coated stainless steel cable with the desired end connections. You can find more information about our coated steel cables here.

Installation of wire ropes – versatile fastening options

Our stainless steel cables can be flexibly attached to a wide variety of structures – whether to railing posts, wooden beams or house walls. Depending on your requirements and design, we can offer you various installation options:

  • Attachment to round tube – An elegant and modern solution for long-lasting railing systems.
  • Fastening to square tube – Perfect for clear lines and a stable construction.
  • Wooden railing posts or attachment to wooden beams – Ideal for natural designs and harmonious integration into terraces or gardens.
  • Attachment to a house wall or granite pillar – A robust solution when no separate railing is required.

The right stainless steel cable for every railing

1×19 – particularly firm and stiff

This rope construction consists of a single strand made from 19 wires. Due to the small number of individual wires, the wire rope is particularly tensile, stiff and low-stretch. It is therefore ideal for straight tension ropes that are not subject to deflection, as well as for modern, minimalist balustrade designs that require clear lines.

7×7 – medium flexibility and versatile in use

Due to the higher number of strands and wires, the wire rope is significantly more flexible than a rope with a 1×19 construction, but still retains a certain degree of dimensional stability. It is ideal for use when your project involves slight bends, for example in cable railings that are subject to subtle tension or need to be deflected slightly.

7×19 -maximum flexibility for mobile applications

As this wire rope consists of 7 strands with 19 fine individual wires each, it is particularly flexible, manoeuvrable and supple so that you can easily guide it through deflections and pulleys. Use these wire ropes for rope constructions that are supported by a handrail, for example, or if you need to guide them around corners, such as on banisters with several angles. Thanks to its high flexibility, this rope construction can be easily tensioned and adjusted without losing stability.

Stainless steel cable with threaded terminal & cable tensioner

When assembling stainless steel cables, the end of the cable is crimped with a threaded terminal. This connection is permanent and cannot be loosened, which is why the rope length must be precisely determined in advance. We offer threaded terminals in various designs:

  • Different thread lengths for flexible adaptation to your construction.
  • Right-hand and left-hand threads to enable optimum tension and secure fastening.
  • Threaded terminal at just one end of the rope to change the rope length at a later date or for fitting a clamp or screw terminal.

If a stainless steel cable needs to be tensioned, for example between two walls, a cable tensioner is also required on one side. As with the threaded terminals, there are also application-specific solutions here.

As every project has individual requirements, we always manufacture customised stainless steel cables to your specifications. Our team will be happy to advise you to find the perfect solution for your application. Talk to us – we will support you with the planning!

High-quality stainless steel for maximum durability

Railings can be exposed to a wide variety of environmental influences. We manufacture our wire ropes from stainless steel with the material number 1.4401 (AISI 316), which is known for its excellent corrosion resistance, so that they can withstand these and remain beautiful and safe for a long time. Benefit from:

  • Rust-free & durable – Ideal for long-term outdoor use.
  • Salt water resistance – Perfect for maritime environments such as coastlines or on boats.
  • Acid resistance – Resistant to chemical influences such as sulphuric, acetic and phosphoric acid, which can occur in industrial areas.

FAQs – Frequently asked questions about wire ropes for railings

Yes, we offer our wire ropes both by the metre and as customised assemblies. In the case of customised ropes, the desired length is cut exactly to size and crimped with suitable end connections (e.g. threaded terminals).

The choice of the right rope depends on factors such as span width, fastening options and the desired design. We will be happy to advise you individually and help you select the right wire rope construction for your project.

Yes, the expansion factor plays an important role when choosing the right wire rope for railings. Stainless steel cables stretch under tensile load and can expand or contract minimally with temperature fluctuations.

  • 1×19 ropes have very low elongation as they are particularly stiff.
  • 7×7 and 7×19 ropes are more flexible and stretch slightly more, which must be taken into account when tensioning.

As wire ropes can settle slightly over time, we recommend the use of tensioning systems to ensure consistent rope tension.

Advice included: We will of course support you in selecting the right rope and advise you on elongation, tensioning technology and optimum fastening – so that the railing remains stable in the long term.
