Wire rope for garage doors – we have the right rope for your application
Depending on the area of application, a garage door is opened and closed dozens of times a day – so every component must be able to withstand the highest demands. Our wire ropes for garage doors impress with their safety, robustness, reliability and exceptionally high tensile strength. Even with frequent use, they remain permanently resilient and fatigue-free. Whether you need a standard solution or a custom-made product – we supply the right rope for your application. Place your trust in the quality of Hamburger Drahtseilerei.

The right wire rope for every garage door
7×7 – for simple to medium applications
This rope consists of 49 individual wires, i.e. 7 strands with 7 wires each. It is less flexible, but more dimensionally stable with higher abrasion resistance and is well suited for straight pull applications. The rope is used for up-and-over doors or simple sectional doors as well as manually operated or semi-automatic doors. It should be guided straight and not deflected too much with a low to medium number of cycles.
7×19 – for flexible and dynamic applications
The wire rope consists of 133 individual wires, which are combined into 7 strands with 19 wires each. It is very flexible, bendable and easy to wind. It is perfect for deflections, e.g. over rollers and drums, and is used for doors with frequent movement, such as automated sectional doors with motor drives or roller doors with a high opening frequency, where the rope is often rolled up and unrolled.

Our cables for your garage door in various materials
- Galvanized steel: More cost-effective than stainless steel, robust, durable and protected against corrosion. Steel is suitable for interior and exterior doors that are only occasionally exposed to moisture. Steel cables are mostly used for standard residential and commercial garage doors.
- Stainless steel: Ropes made of stainless steel are highly corrosion-resistant, low-maintenance and durable. Stainless steel is the best choice for doors in damp environments (e.g. in coastal regions) or damp underground garages. Stainless steel also serves as a design component for visible cables in high-quality door systems.
- Bare wire: the low-cost alternative is not coated, offers no corrosion protection and is only suitable for indoor areas that are not exposed to moisture.
Suitable end fittings for every rope
We offer suitable end fittings, especially in series production for dealers and manufacturers. Our aluminum crimp sleeves, abrasion-resistant thimbles or robust eye hooks can be precisely matched to the respective door system. On request, we can also equip the cable for your garage door with threaded bolts for industrial series solutions, cable stoppers or snap hooks.
