Dimensionally stable 7×7 wire rope with steel core (6×7+WSC)

Are you looking for a suitable rope for fall protection, Bowden ropes, railings, trellises or suspension systems? Our 7×7 wire rope (technical designation: 6×7+WSC) is ideal for these and many other applications, as it offers high tensile strength and good flexibility. This makes it perfectly suited, for example, for tensile loads and fixed bracing without frequent, tight bends.

Designation: 6×7+WSC (often referred to as 7×7) describes a wire rope with 6 outer strands, each consisting of 7 wires. The core (WSC = Wire Strand Core) is formed by a further full-size steel strand.

Properties: 7×7 ropes reliably retain their shape and have high breaking strengths. Thanks to their thicker outer wires, they also offer excellent resistance to mechanical wear and abrasion.

Applications: These wire ropes are particularly well suited to applications subject to static loads, such as bracing for masts, railings and fences, in agriculture, and for decorative architectural projects both indoors and outdoors.

Material: We manufacture the rope from high-quality galvanised steel and also offer a stainless steel version (grade 1.4401) for maximum corrosion resistance in outdoor applications.

Versions at Hamburger Drahtseilerei: We also offer this construction with a protective plastic coating and customized assembly.

7×7 steel wire rope (6×7+WSC) for a wide range of applications

  • Agriculture & Forestry: Cost-effective tow ropes, sturdy fencing systems and durable guy ropes for fruit growing and viticulture.
  • Construction & Trades: Reliable structural guy ropes and robust guy ropes for masts, aerials, signs and temporary structures.
  • Industry & Plant Engineering: Sturdy retaining ropes, secure connections and safety ropes that reliably hold heavy loads in place.
  • Transport Technology & Gates: Guide and retaining ropes for simple lifting devices, barrier systems and garage doors.

Note: For outdoor projects such as railing construction or in the maritime sector, we recommend our rust-free stainless steel versions.

When is a 7×7 stainless steel model the better choice?

Whilst the galvanised version is mainly suitable for purely technical purposes, the 7×7 stainless steel wire rope is ideal for visually demanding projects and movable structures with a slight amount of play. It is perfectly suited to modern railings, balustrades, façades, simple cable systems and hoisting equipment, as well as for maritime applications. The material withstands rain and salty air and offers long-lasting protection against rust. If your project is exposed to wind and weather, you’re better off choosing the stainless steel version.

6×7 with fibre reinforcement – when should I use this construction?

We also stock the related 6×7+FC (Fibre Core) construction. This also consists of 6 strands, each with 7 wires, but features a fibre insert at the centre of the rope. This makes the wire rope lighter and noticeably more flexible than the steel-core (WSC) variant. The maximum breaking strength is slightly lower. 6×7+FC is suitable, for example, for guy ropes and safety ropes in the transport sector.

FAQs – 7×7 wire rope

Due to the relatively thick individual wires, the rope is quite stiff and is prone to premature material fatigue when subjected to tight bending radii during movement. It is therefore hardly suitable for dynamic applications involving frequent changes of direction; in such cases, you should opt for more flexible designs with a greater number of individual wires, such as 6×19 or 7×19.

Yes, we can customise your 7×7 steel wire rope to your specifications. We stock all standard end fittings, such as terminals, thimbles and crimp clamps, as well as versions with protective coating, all ready for immediate use.
