Precision-fit end fittings for fall arrest

A rope safety system has to withstand a great deal in an emergency. To ensure this, end fittings must be fitted to most safety structures. We can therefore, if required, fit your stainless wire ropes at our factory with, for example, crimped threaded, eye or fork terminals, or integrate suitable rope and shroud tensioners into the rope system.

Simply let us know the required overall dimensions and the desired fittings, and we will manufacture your ropes ready for use and exactly to your specifications.

Stainless Wire ropes for fall arrest – the benefits at a glance

  • High breaking strengths for uncompromising protection of human life.
  • Weather-resistant, permanently rust-free and extremely low-maintenance stainless steel.
  • The 7×7 and 7×19 constructions absorb loads elastically and gently on the material in the event of an emergency.

  • Supplied by the metre
  • Fitted with suitable end fittings and ready for immediate use.

Special materials for extreme conditions

We stock wire ropes made from grade 1.4401 as standard for fall protection. However, in certain environments, this material may reach its limits. We therefore also offer stainless wire ropes made from, for example, duplex (1.4462), 1.4539 or 1.4571. Please feel free to contact us if you require a different material for your application.

Our recommendation: When to use 7×7 and when to use 7×19?

The type of rope construction you should choose for installation depends largely on the geometry of your safety system. For long, straight sections on flat or industrial roofs, the dimensionally stable 7×7 rope is the cost-effective and tried-and-tested standard solution.

However, if you need to route the safety rope around tight corners, edges or over complex roof structures, we recommend the more flexible 7×19 rope to ensure the necessary suppleness.

Both rope types guarantee the appropriate breaking strengths and safety in an emergency. We would be happy to advise you.

Why stainless steel is the best choice for safety ropes

  • Long-lasting corrosion protection
  • High resistance to weathering
  • High resistance to salt water and acids

FAQs – Frequently asked questions about steel wire ropes for fall arrest

When we crimp the end connections (such as threaded terminals) directly at our factory, this guarantees the required holding forces and tested safety. This saves you a great deal of time during on-site installation and, compared to terminals that are screwed on afterwards, ensures a much sleeker appearance, which is particularly important for drive-over cable systems.

As wire ropes can expand slightly due to mechanical stresses and temperature fluctuations, modern safety systems use cable or shroud tensioners at the end points. These allow the cable to be readjusted in just a few simple steps.

Yes, as they are made from high-quality stainless steel (grade 1.4401 / V4A), the ropes are highly resistant to many acids, exhaust gases and chemical vapours. They are therefore suitable, for example, for factory roofs, production halls or use near exhaust air systems. However, in specific environments, special grades of material (e.g. duplex) may also be advisable. We also stock stainless steel wire ropes made from special grades of material.

Yes, although plastic coating is mainly used for fall arrest in the form of fixed barriers or guardrails. In contrast, bare stainless steel is used for traditional rope safety systems to which workers attach themselves directly (lifelines). If required, we can supply ropes with plastic coating in your chosen RAL colour.
